Answers

1. What is Angel Kiss Foundation?
Angel Kiss Foundation (AKF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families with children who are being treated for cancer. AKF provides financial assistance to families to help with the astronomical expenses associated with the disease.

2. How did Angel Kiss Foundation begin?
AKF began Virginia in 1990 with the death of five-year-old Jarryd. Jarryd was diagnosed with leukemia in 1987 and his grandparents, David and Barbara Rosin recognized the overwhelming costs associated with the disease, in addition to medical expenses. In his memory, the Angel Kiss Foundation was named for a birthmark on Jarryd´s cheek, which the family referred to as Jarryd´s _Angel Kiss._

3. How did Angel Kiss Foundation get started in Northern Nevada?
The Rosins relocated to Reno in 1995 and realizing that because there was no pediatric oncology treatment center in Northern Nevada and the Eastern Sierra, children and their families would have to travel out of state for treatment. From personal experience and understanding the astronomical costs associated with cancer, the Rosins saw the need for an organization to help families in Northern Nevada and in 1997 the Angel Kiss Foundation was founded in Nevada.

4. How many families does Angel Kiss Foundation help?
To date, AKF has helped more than 151 families providing more than $300,000 in assistance. AKF currently partners with local and national organizations including medical facilities to communicate AKF services to families.

5. What expenses qualify for financial assistance?
AKF works with families on an individual basis and reviews the needs of each family. AKF provides financial assistance for a variety of expenses including: medical expenses, insurance deductibles, uncovered procedures, household living expenses, mortgage payments, rent, food, utilities, travel expenses related to treatment and other family expenses causing hardship during the child_s cancer treatment.
